In 2023, at the BAARLO conference of the Association of Social Development, ASD, one of the members, Heraldo Suero sparked an important conversation about the complex and often tense relationship between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. His presentation shed light on the historical, cultural, and socio-political dynamics shaping these two interconnected nations. A pivotal moment came at the end of his session when the presenter invited to answer a final question: “What’s possible after this presentation?”
This question ignited a movement. A group of international consultants, all members of ASD, united around a shared social will to make a difference. They envisioned a path forward—not through politics or economics alone, but through dialogue and mediation. Out of this vision was born a task force committed to fostering understanding and collaboration.
A Journey Toward Change
Since the summer of 2023, this dedicated team has been working tirelessly, preparing for a groundbreaking workshop aimed at cultivating dialogue and resolution. Their efforts—conducted through virtual meetings and meticulous planning—have set the stage for a transformative event, now scheduled for April 2025.
This seminar is not just an event; it’s an experience designed to challenge the way participants engage with others—and with themselves. Its essence lies in one profound realization:
You talk – but do you feel understood? You listen – but do you really?
The Invitation: Transforming Conversations, Resolving Conflicts
This seminar invites participants to step into a space of discovery, empathy, and connection, where they will:
- Discover how their beliefs about conflict shape their behaviors.
- Develop a stronger attitude and “moral muscle” for building healthy, sustainable relationships—even in the face of tension.
- Understand the mechanisms of conflict and learn techniques to de-escalate it.
- Experience the creativity that emerges from deep, meaningful dialogue with stakeholders from across the Dominican Republic.
- Learn to listen—not just with their ears, but with their hearts and minds, awakening untapped potential.
The Foundation of Our Work
As facilitators, we bring expertise in creating the conditions for authentic dialogue. We guide individuals, teams, organizations, and societies to uncover their potential through a holistic approach, addressing:
- The rational thinker, the emotional feeler and the creative doer within each participant.
- Both the light and shadow sides of human interaction.
- A deep understanding of the dynamics of conflict and the art of resolution.
We build futures with others by fostering relationships, opening channels of communication, and deepening mutual understanding.
Why This Matters
Think of a moment when you had a truly great dialogue—when you felt heard, understood, and connected. Now imagine that experience multiplied across communities, bridging divides, and building peace. That is the vision we are working toward.
This is more than a workshop. It’s a movement. It’s a chance to plant the seeds of understanding, empathy, and sustainable solutions in the fertile ground of dialogue.
With your support, we can bring this vision to life. Let’s work together to create a future where the borders between Haiti and the Dominican Republic symbolize connection, not division.
